The Curse of the Spencer Sleeve!

I went to my knitting group tonight. Found out that I was doing my Spencer sleeve wrong..again! Lisa was kind enough to show me how I had misread the pattern and what I needed to to get back on track. So I thought I was nearly finished with my first sleeve, I actually I pulled it out...AGAINNNNN!

Well, I guess it is the mark of a true knitter: we are committed enough to do it as many times as it takes to get it right. But I just want to say for the record: Dang it!

Fiber Therapy/ Spence-Along Update

Hi,

I have been working steadily on my Spencer and I have made what I consider some good progress on my sleeve. Here it is. I am hopeful that I will be starting on the body soon. It is such an amazing pattern. I have noticed something though, working this pattern is a little different for me. I love bulky weight yarns and big needles, not only because the knit up so quickly, but I just love how plush they look when you finish knitting them. With the Spencer, I am using like a size 7 needle (I know for some people that IS a big needle), which allows me to see more detail in the garment. Knitting is such a wonderful journey.

I left the office at lunchtime today to run an errand, and since I was in the neighborhood, I stopped into Needlework Unlimited for a little fiber therapy. I just changed work stations and the place I am sitting now is much colder than my previous location.
So I am making an office shawl out of some variegated Socos yarn by Ester Bitran in the green tones. I think is just a lovely chunky hand dyed yarn and I just love green. I think it will be pretty. Has anyone worked with this yarn before?

BTW, Shepherd's Harvest is coming up on May 9-10 at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Lake Elmo, MN. A small group of us are going and it would be great if more people could come out and show their support. Are you coming? It would be great to connect with new friends over bins of fiber and fabulous yarn.

Moments in Knitting: at Whole Foods

Hi,

Just met an actress leaving the Whole Foods. She does Law & Order alot, which is one of my favorite shows. Of course, I didn't ask if she was an actress, I asked if she was a knitter! She looked like one of the ladies coming to YarnOver. Strange thing is, I never asked her name...I invited her to join our knitting group but never got around to proper introductions!

Spence-A-Long Update: Partial to Sleeves

Ok, so now that I have figured out that I am doing the increases on my sleeve properly, (thanks ladies for sharing your wisdom with me. It helped more than you know!!) I am making a bit more progress on my sleeve. I think it is coming along quite nicely. Annie did a great job with this pattern. With each row it gets more and more beautiful.

I worked on it today at lunch time, which I find a nice way to take a break from the Hurley burly of the day. Of course I did bring an article to read with me, but it was light reading. I forgot my cabling needle at home, so I used a hairpin I found in my purse. It actually didn't turn out too badly.

Since I discovered this morning that I can blog via my fancy new cell phone, I took these photos with the goal of posting at lunch time. Well, the photos came out pretty good, but I had trouble getting the transmission to go through. Of course, I will try again in a few days to see if I can get it to work.

All in all, I think it is coming together rather well, I hope to finish up the sleeve soon so I can start on the body. It would be so great to finish something. I feel like my house has become the "Land of Unfinished Projects"

Ta,

Eryka

Thought for the Day

If life gives you lemons: Make lemonade

If life gives you fluff: Spin it into yarn and make a scarf

Unless it is marshmallow fluff, I could never figure out what to do with that stuff!
